Kuozui Motors Donates Toyota Corolla Altis to Train NPUST Students

2022-12-14

Kuozui Motors has donated a Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid to the NPUST Department of Vehicle Engineering to be used for education, practical learning, and research. The donation will add to the university’s teaching resources and give students an opportunity to get closer to the industry. On December 14th (2022), a ceremony was held to present the car to the school, with Kuozui Motors’ assistant manager, Shih-Jung Ho, and NPUST president, Chin-Lung Chang, present to mark the occasion.

President Chin-Lung Chang made some remarks at the ceremony, stating that “the NPUST Department of Vehicle Engineering is not only cultivating students with skills in designing and building cars, but in recent years, has been following electric vehicle industry trends as well. The school offers many cross- and multi-disciplinary courses in Smart mechatronics, systems design, and energy application, so that students can acquire professional skills during their undergraduate studies, and smoothly adapt to the industry after graduation. We are grateful to Kuozui Motors for donating this hybrid vehicle and providing teachers and students with a car to use for practical studies, observations, and analysis in the classroom.”

Kuozui Motors assistant manager, Shih-Jung Ho, said “Kuozui Motors is taking practical measures to support education at the school, and help students get experience with the latest car models during practical course learning. When the school’s equipment is in-line with the industry, it reduces the gap between learning and application. It also improves the quality of technical and vocational education and strengthens students’ expertise and competitiveness. Through the combination of theory and practice, the university can refine the professional skills of students and cultivate professionals with integrated knowledge for Taiwan’s automobile industry.”

Teaching objectives at the Department of Vehicle Engineering focus on green power systems, vehicle electronics, and vehicle structures and materials. As part of its research, the department is also developing safe and intelligent new-generation green power vehicles. The hybrid Toyota Corolla Altis donated to the school by Kuozui Motors is one of the company’s most popular models currently on the market. The car will provide students with an opportunity to get under the hood during class hours and observe the design of the core parts of the vehicle.

Emphasizing the development of new energy, new power systems, and new types of vehicles, NPUST researchers are using light alloy structures and new processes to integrate overall structural safety, innovative automotive chips, and driving information systems (Telematics) into vehicle design. With the donation from Kuozui Motors, students have a new vehicle model that they can use to carry out various inspection simulations, conduct troubleshooting, and learn about systems repair.

NPUST is grateful to Kuozui Motors for helping lay roots in education by providing students with equipment to learn on. The school is looking forward to more interaction with the company in the future. By cooperating on teaching, internships, and research activities, the parties will be able to enjoy a mutually-beneficial relationship and create a win-win situation through industry-university cooperation.
