On October 14th, the ASE Group organized a “2022 World Food Day” activity at Kaohsiung’s K23 International Conference Hall, and invited a team from the International Irrigation R&D Service Center at NNPUST to present some of their related developments. Professor Yumin Wang, a distinguished researcher from center led the team and shared on technology behind the low-carbon rice cultivation methods they have developed.

In order to help students understand the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to encourage them to participate in sustainable issues, the NPUST Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainability Office, Herlin Chien, organized the “2022 Youth Rooted in Sustainability – SDGs Training Workshop”. The October workshop, which took place at the university library, was held in cooperation with President Chain Store Corporation and Unity Sustainability Services. The aim was to help students become more versed in cross-disciplinary issues and sustainable thinking, and to teach them to put the “new values” of sustainable living in to action by practicing them in daily life.

This year (2022), the 8th International Workshop on GreenMetrics (IWGM) was hosted by NPUST, marking the first time it was held by Taiwan. However, due to considerations related to the epidemic, the event was organized to take place online, rather than in a physical format. The opening ceremony for the workshop was scheduled for the evening of September 27, with NPUST President Chin-Lung Chang and the president of the GreenMetric University Rankings, Dr. Riri, serving as the hosts.

Since it was established as the Kaohsiung State Pingtung Extension School of Agriculture in 1924, NPUST has enjoyed a journey of nearly one hundred years. Coming a long way from its beginnings in traditional tropical agriculture, the university is now applying “One Health” and “Global Sustainability” in its mission to develop itself along the four main axes of “Technological Agriculture”, “Ecological Industries”, “Platinum Society”, and “Sustainable Economies”.
